Still Life
Written by Nikos Moschovos

You look at the still life
The drink burns your throat
And the bridge looks distant.
The ashtray is small
The bottle empty
The mystagogy is open.
You look at the still life,
The rotten apples in the jar,
The sip in your mouth is bitter.
Now you see,
Now you live
The earth of the dead
the colour of yellowness
the odour of rottenness.
You feel the still life
When your mouth waters
And the bridge looks near.
Tell me,
Have you realized the sense?
The scent of death
The chaos of the abyss
The world of sleep?
